Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book provides comprehensive historical detail about Trinity College, Cambridge and its notable alumni, Dr. Richard Bentley. It covers Dr. Richard Bentley's controversial tenure as Master of Trinity College during which time he made several excessive demands of a composition for the profits of his mastership and used unscrupulous methods to achieve his aims. The book also documents the disputes between Bentley and his Fellows which ultimately led to their appeal to the bishop of Ely, the attempt by the Fellows to change the proportion of their dividends and replace him as master, and the resulting hearings and public trial that was prevented by royal arbitration. The author offers an insider's view of historical events, providing fresh perspectives on the disputes and their resolution. This book will appeal to historians, scholars of theology, and those with an interest in the history of Cambridge and its colleges in the 18th century. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
