Students of long-term climatological trends will wish to have a reliable picture of the weather around 300 B.C. in the eastern Mediterranean. Students of the history of science will benefit by a study of wind and weather theory, together with observations of surprising fineness and accuracy. Students of the history of philosophy will be interested in implications for both the shift in interests of the Peripatos and for the degree of scholarly independence in that school. Students of classical antiquities will be at least somewhat interested in the weather in Athens and in a few other places in Greece as revealed in Theophrastus' short treatise.
