Hardcover. Zustand: Good. No Jacket. First Thus. One of a lovely series of classic books for young readers illustrated by famous artists of the day (here, Elenore Plaisted Abbott), each with a colorful paper pastedown to the front board.Orig. published in this format in 1920, this is a 1929 printing, with 38 original stories! In addition to the full-color title page, there are 8 other full-page, full-color plates throughout the 308 pages of text; a 9th is missing (Cinderella), but all are virtually flawless. Small 4to (7.25" x 9.5") has black cloth-covered boards with front paper pastedown, which shows edgewear & rubbing, as do the extremities of both boards, with cloth fraying at corners & both ends of spine. Condition is Good. The binding has been cracked & reglued, but ffep remains completely detached, with wear to fore edge. Text block secure, but gutter cracked between pages 68-69 (where missing plate would have been). Pages creamy white with significant tanning & the occasional spot or smudge, else unmarked. Despite condition issues, the plates are stunning & the stories remain as wonderful as ever! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received Weekdays by 2 pm (Pacific); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day. Abbott, Elenore Plaisted (illustrator).
