Er war der Bruder von August Julius Ferdinand Ammann (1850-1924), dem Besitzer der Seeburg in Kreuzlingen und Herausgeber der monumentalen Geschichte der Familie Ammann von Zürich. Über seine Schwester Molly war er verschwägert mit Georg Gottfried Volkart (1850-1928), der 1907 das Schloss von den Ammanns übernahm und es dann an seine drei Töchter vererbte. (Vgl. HBLS u.
