First hand account of the author's experiences hiking the Continental Divide, 3000 miles, the author's greatest challenge at his career at that point, at age 20. Previously he had already hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (first person to do so) and the Appalachian Trail. The journey took 5 months in 1972; he did it along with his younger brother Tim. During the trek they struggled with avalanches, freezing temperatures, rock slides, wildlife and scorching heat in Wyoming which finally sent Tim home.
