These yielded between 6,500 and 9,000 tons of feldspar worth about $500,000, and attracted interest as a possible source for high-grade potash feldspar. The author's investigation aimed to determine the size of these deposits, the characteristics of their pegmatite bodies, and the pegmatites' relationship to the area's broader structure and rock units. The author tested the applicability of the zonal concept of pegmatite structure to prospecting and development of feldspar deposits. The book discusses the history of mining, geology of the area, internal structure of the pegmatites, feldspar deposits, mining and preparation for market, mica deposits, and kaolin deposits, among other topics. The author's findings indicate that knowledge of the internal structure of pegmatites and the relationship of feldspar occurrence to zonal structure can be effectively applied in prospecting and mining.
