La panne totale affect…e les parties mécaniques des centrales électriques. Au cours des dernières années, le phénomène de panne totale s'est produit à plusieurs reprises au Soudan et a causé plusieurs problèmes et défauts dans les centrales électriques. La première fois, la panne totale s'est produite en août 2011, puis deux fois en décembre 2013 et en mai 2015. En 2016, le black-out complet s'est répété trois fois, une fois en février 2017 et une fois en janvier 2018. La dernière panne complète au Soudan a eu lieu en janvier 2019, la centrale thermique de Bahry étant la plus touchée par ce phénomène. Dans l'unité n°6, qui est une centrale à vapeur, les deux arbres des turbines haute et basse pression ont été sérieusement endommagés. D'autres défauts ont été constatés dans les sièges de vilebrequin et les bagues d'huile des turbines à haute et basse pression. D'autres défauts ont été constatés dans les sièges de vilebrequin et les bagues d'huile des turbines à haute et basse pression. Tous ces défauts étaient principalement dus à un frottement élevé entre les pièces rotatives en raison d'une lubrification insuffisante, ce qui s'est produit lorsque la circulation du lubrifiant et les pompes à huile ont été soudainement arrêtées par la panne totale. Certains défauts ont également été causés dans le générateur électrique, principalement dans l'arbre principal et ses sièges, pour les mêmes raisons que celles mentionnées ci-dessus. Pour éviter le phénomène de panne totale, des mesures de sécurité ont été suggérées dans le cadre de cette recherche. Ces précautions sont principalement la maintenance préventive et corrective qui doit être effectuée selon les conseils du fournisseur des installations. Afin de réduire les erreurs humaines, une formation intensive devrait être dispensée à tous les ingénieurs et techniciens de la centrale électrique, à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur du Soudan.
