Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. From the ranks of forgotten English writers comes this lady; real name Elizabeth Rebecca Ward, ne Daniels. As Fay Inchfawn she wrote a good many books, mainly poetry and memoirs of her life in the countryside around Bristol and Bath. She started with "Verse-Book of a Homely Woman" in 1920 and became one of the bestselling women writers in England between the wars. And now who's heard of her? Anyhow, here we have one of those gentle memoirs of English village life with anecdotes about family, friends and neighbors (one such anecdote is written, cleverly, in the form of a play). Inserted in this copy is a lovely little stiff card, folded and printed on the front with "Greetings from Fay Inchfawn". It is dated Christmas 1925 from her home in Bradford-on-Avon. Inside is a poem called "God's Man". Not sure if this nice little gift was inserted into every copy of this book when first published, or if they have been bought together subsequently. A nice addition, anyway. There is a frontispiece photograph of the author. Hinge is weakened at one point in the center of the book, but binding is still tight with no loose pages. Edges a little browned with minor spotting, but a very good copy with its charming insert.
