Cette thèse d'agrégation est divisée en deux parties: pathogénie du diabète sucré, avec l'énumération des théories; accidents nerveux du diabète…(troubles de la motilité, de sensibilité, des fonctions génitales et des organes des sens, troubles cérébraux, troubles vasomoteurs et trophiques, coma diabétique). Ferdinand Dreyfous (1851-1890) qui fut interne des hôpitaux de Paris, élève de Grancher, échoua à ce concours, mais fut reçu médecin du Bureau central des Hôpitaux et devint médecin des hôpitaux de Paris. Cette thèse fit l'objet d'une longue analyse dans les Archives de Neurlogie (Vol. 6, pp. 436-441). Elle fut citée par R.C. Scott (Clinical Cardiology and Diabetes, vol. 1, p. 118) et par B.F. Walter et al. (Status of the coronary arteries at necropsy in diabetes mellitus, Am J Med. 1980,69:498-506).
