Copia stenografica delle lezioni di Meccanica Razionale del celebre matematico reggiano Ferdinando Paolo Ruffini (Reggio Emilia 1823 Bologna 1908) che fu rettore dell'Università di Bologna. Ruffini fu inizialmente professore a Modena per poi divenire Ordinario di Meccanica Razzionale all'Università di Bologna. Fu Rettore dell'ateneo per quattro anni. Autore prolifico, lasciò più di ottanta opere di meccanica razionale ma anche di geometria analitica e differenziale. A lui si devono importanti studi sui poligoni funicolari a lati rigidi).
