Il tutto corredato da quelli che ho scelto di chiamare "consigli non richiesti", consigli i più disparati, dal riscaldamento prima di suonare all'attenzione per il proprio strumento, con la prospettiva che nel corso del tempo a quelli già stampati se ne vadano ad aggiungere altri, estrapolati dalla vita del musicista. Indispensabili i consigli del violinista Daniele Orlando e del maestro liutaio Gino Sfarra, indispensabili proprio per quell'idea di quaderno come contenitore di una sapienza che quotidianamente incontriamo e che raramente fermiamo sulla carta di un quaderno. All other contents with ruled borders, all but first few pages in two columns; with decorated initial capitals and a few other decorations. All edges blue. Contemporary binding, spine and board coverings scavenged from an earlier music manuscript on parchment - over which 4-line staff Gregorian Chant notation in red and black, accompanying Latin verse in black, and glimpses of decorations in red and blue. Spine with manuscript title and date in uppermost of five compartments; original blue & white headbands. Boards with yapp fore-edges. Original endpapers. Spine deeply darkened, chipped with loss at head & foot and adjacent to lower part of front hinge, and with two near-closed splits across width; title almost illegible, date reasonably clear. Boards with ingrained dust-, handling- & other markings, fore-edge ties long since gone. Three pin-prick size worm holes at lower edge of front board, no signs of full penetration. Endpapers lightly and patchily toned & spotted, a little dust- & handling-marked, and with near-closed splits along hinges. Front flyleaf with hole and graze close to upper edge over short almost-erased inscription, beneath which another inscription "Julius Ferrettus (Italian jurist)" and smaller graze, and hardly visible dampstains of negligible effect. Pastedowns at both front and rear with minor worm damage close to hinges; contents otherwise worm-free. Title-page faintly & patchily toned and a little dust-marked, with three short black ink-strokes through still-legible 'A' of 'AEQUITIS', and with small hole close to centre (having negligible effect on print) covered by small paper strip neatly applied at blank verso. Text occasionally faintly toned. Final leaf (imprimatur at recto) with a few minor spots. Top edge of text-block darkened; other edges a little uneven in tone, and lower edge a little marked adjacent to fore-edge. Interesting binding holding firmly, though spine grubby in appearance. Contents complete, and in generally clean, tight and fresh condition. In view of age, a VERY GOOD copy. (Giulio Ferretti of Ravenna 1480-1547, author of about 40 legal works mainly on military and financial law; held important administrative and diplomatic positions under Emperor Charles V.).

Edizione originale molto rara, postuma, andata alle stampe per il figlio dell'autore, Esupernanzo, e da questi dedicata a Filippo II di Spagna. Giulio Ferretti (1487-1547), ravennate, figlio del noto giureconsulto Niccolò, si occupò prevalentemente (ed è annoverato fra le principali fonti) di diritto marittimo e commerciale. L'opera, suddivisa in diciassette libri, tratta di tutti gli aspetti mercantili della navigazione (in mare, fiumi e laghi), delle forme contrattuali e assicurative marittime, accomandite e lettere di cambio, regole di ingaggio dei marittimi, stivaggio di derrate e merci, dei diritti di rappresaglia e delle varie tipologie delle navi da guerra, della meteorologia e del rapporto fra le condizioni del mare e il diritto di calare l'ancora nei porti stranieri. Il libro si chiude con un capitolo interamente dedicato ai veleni di serpenti presenti nelle isole.
