Paperback. Zustand: New. This book targets graduate students and researchers who want to learn about Lebesgue spaces and solutions to hyperbolic equations. It is divided into two parts.Part 1 provides an introduction to the theory of variable Lebesgue spaces: Banach function spaces like the classical Lebesgue spaces but with the… constant exponent replaced by an exponent function. These spaces arise naturally from the study of partial differential equations and variational integrals with non-standard growth conditions. They have applications to electrorheological fluids in physics and to image reconstruction. After an introduction that sketches history and motivation, the authors develop the function space properties of variable Lebesgue spaces; proofs are modeled on the classical theory. Subsequently, the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator is discussed. In the last chapter, other operators from harmonic analysis are considered, such as convolution operators and singular integrals. The text is mostly self-contained, with only some more technical proofs and background material omitted. Part 2 gives an overview of the asymptotic properties of solutions to hyperbolic equations and systems with time-dependent coefficients. First, an overview of known results is given for general scalar hyperbolic equations of higher order with constant coefficients. Then strongly hyperbolic systems with time-dependent coefficients are considered. A feature of the described approach is that oscillations in coefficients are allowed. Propagators for the Cauchy problems are constructed as oscillatory integrals by working in appropriate time-frequency symbol classes. A number of examples is considered and the sharpness of results is discussed. An exemplary treatment of dissipative terms shows how effective lower order terms can change asymptotic properties and thus complements the exposition.

Il 28 giugno 1500, preceduta e seguita da un fastoso corteo, entrava in Perugia Lavinia, figlia di Giovanni Colonna e di Giustina Orsini, per andare sposa ad Astorre di Guido Baglioni, il quale per l'occasione destinò ben 60.000 fiorini per i festeggiamenti che doveva…no protrarsi per 20 giorni, allietati da giostre, mense imbandite ed archi trionfali da allestire nei vari rioni della città. Tali festeggiamenti destarono l'ammirazione non solo del popolo perugino, ma di tutti gli ambasciatori, signori e invitati provenienti da tutta Italia. L'arco trionfale più bello fu considerato quello di Porta San Pietro e di Porta Bornia riuniti insieme, ma il più sontuoso fu quello di Porta Susanna, che era il rione abitato da molti nobili. L'unico rione che non partecipò ai festeggiamenti fu quello di Posta Sant'Angelo, perché ostile ai Baglioni. Le imminenti nozze sembrarono l'occasione per la buona riuscita di una congiura, per la confusione che i festeggiamenti avrebbero generato e perché nella notte le vittime sarebbero state immerse nel sonno e nelle abbondati bevute della giornata. La congiura, partita l'idea da Giulio Varano, signore di Camerino, in accordo con Carlo il Bargiglia, nipote di Malatesta, aveva raccolto un gruppo di avversari alla famiglia Baglioni: Gerolamo della Penna, aspirante alla signoria di Perugia, i fratelli Berardo, Pietro, Giacomo e Ottaviano della Cornia, Filippo, prozio di Carlo e figlio naturale di Braccio I, che a sua volta fece entrare nella congiura il nipote Grifonetto, insinuandogli il sospetto di una tresca amorosa tra sua moglie Zenobia Sforza e Giampaolo Baglioni. La sera del 14 luglio, per mascherare le loro intenzioni, si recarono a prendere l'indulgenza plenaria nella Chiesa di San Luca, cenarono e salutarono tutti i parenti con saluti affettuosi. Della famiglia Baglioni si salvarono anche Troilo, protonotaro che abitava alle Fonti di Veggio, Gentile, prete che stava a Bastia, e il vecchio Rodolfo che abitava a Santa Maria degli Angeli e che subito si rifugiò a Cannara. Il 15 luglio, Carlo radunò i maggiorenti della città nella Sala della Mercanzia e dichiarò che l'operato dei congiurati era volto al bene della comunità, credendo di ottenerne l'appoggio e il consenso. Ciò non avvenne e neanche l'incontro coi Priori ebbe migliore esito. Anche il popolo si mostrò indifferente di fronte ai cadaveri delle vittime che erano stati lasciati esposti sulla strada. Tale scena pietosa fu ripresa da Raffaello nel dipinto della "Deposizione" ordinatogli dalla stessa inconsolabile Atalanta. Giampaolo vendicò con crudeltà l'eccidio dei suoi parenti, soprattutto sui veri o supposti nemici del Rione di Porta Sant'Angelo, che sicuramente aveva fornito il maggior numero di scherani al seguito dei congiurati. Furono bruciate diverse case di quel Rione e fu tentato anche l'incendio di San Lorenzo. I Baglioni superstiti assunsero il governo della città, costituendo una nuova magistratura cui fu posto a capo Adriano il Morgante, figlio di Guido Baglioni. Il governo di Adriano I Baglioni fu saggio, impedì i propositi di vendetta, permise il rientro in città e la restituzione dei beni a coloro che non avevano preso parte diretta all'eccidio, ma decretò anche i processi e le condanne esemplari per coloro che ne erano stati coinvolti. Atento a que se trata de órganos judiciales, la tutela en cuestión no puede provenir sino del ejercicio de la fun…ción jurisdiccional, materializada en el dictado de una sentencia que resulte tanto eficaz como eficiente. Lo primero se logra a partir del dictado de un pronunciamiento que resulte verdaderamente ajustado a derecho; lo segundo, en cambio, de la mano de un decisorio que requiera para su emisión de la menor utilización de recursos posible, especialmente tiempo. Luego, si al proceso se lo concibe como es debido, esto es, como una empresa metódica de la que se valen los Jueces para adquirir el mejor conocimiento posible de los hechos de la causa respecto de la cual deben ejercer su función jurisdiccional, no pueden caber dudas de que el mismo se vuelve una verdadera garantía de imparcialidad y eficacia para los justiciables. De modo tal que se constituye aquél, en cuanto instrumento epistémico de los órganos judiciales del Estado, en condición necesaria -aunque no suficiente- de la tutela efectiva garantizada a nivel constitucional. Fue a raíz de comprender esto último que el autor se adentró en el estudio minucioso de un conjunto de elementos de Teoría General del Proceso, convencido de que la concepción tradicional que se tiene de los mismos, necesita de una vuelta de tuerca. El resultado de dicha investigación se encuentra volcado en la presente obra ensayística, donde se realiza un novedoso análisis de una serie de instituciones que giran en torno del proceso judicial; valiéndose al efecto no sólo de las herramientas que pertenecen a la clásica dogmática jurídica sino también de ciertos métodos que son más bien propios de otras ciencias sociales o de saberes aún más generales, como es el caso de la economía, la sociología, la filosofía o incluso la psicología.

The subsequent chapters are devoted to harmonic analysis on variable Lebesgue spaces. The theory of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator is completely developed, and the connections between variable Lebesgue spaces and the weighted norm inequalities are introduced. The other important operators in harmonic analysis - singular integrals, Riesz potentials, and approximate identities - are treated using a powerful generalization of the Rubio de Francia theory of extrapolation from the theory of weighted norm inequalities. The theory of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator is completely developed, and the connections between variable Lebesgue spaces and the weighted norm inequalities are introduced. The other important operators in harmonic analysis - singular integrals, Riesz potentials, and approximate identities - are treated using a powerful generalization of the Rubio de Francia theory of extrapolation from the theory of weighted norm inequalities. The final chapter applies the results from previous chapters to prove basic results about variable Sobolev spaces.
