As well as artists lesser known today such as Waldo Pierce, Doris Lee, Alexander Brook and Eugene Speicher. I believe there were 20 monographs in the series and I have most of these listed. Additionally the list of paintings is inscribed "We hope…to see you both again soon, R. S." American artists R. B. Kitaj (1932-2007) and his second wife Sandra Fisher were friends of Raphael Soyer and also the subject of at least 1 double portrait painted by Soyer. In 2 places in the catalogue Soyer has penned a critique of the color reproduction of his work.
