Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - The Rhythm of Hope is a deeply emotional, character-driven novella about a mother's resilience and a child's quiet bravery in the sterile confines of a hospital dialysis ward. Eleanor, a woman haunted by past choices and suffocating guilt, finds herself clinging to the steady beeps of a dialy…sis machine as her 10-year-old son, Leo, fights a life-threatening illness. As days bleed into nights filled with anxiety and fragile hope, Eleanor is forced to confront her past-including a strained relationship with her mother-and redefine what it truly means to protect someone you love. Through the support of unlikely allies, the healing power of storytelling, and the unbreakable bond between mother and child, Eleanor learns that hope is not passive-it's an act of courage.Set almost entirely within a single hospital room, this intimate narrative explores love, guilt, healing, and the profound strength found in the smallest human moments.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - After the death of her estranged grandfather, Yvonne Wyngarde inherits a weathered wooden box filled with decades-old letters hidden beneath the floorboards of a forgotten family home. Burned out by corporate life and emotionally adrift, she begins reading the correspondence between two artis…ts whose lives were shaped by love, sacrifice, regret, and unfinished dreams. As the letters pull her deeper into the past, Yvonne uncovers painful truths about her family-and about herself. What begins as curiosity slowly becomes transformation. The words left behind by a man she barely knew awaken the artistic passion she abandoned long ago in exchange for stability and survival. But rediscovering creativity means confronting fear, grief, loneliness, and the terrifying uncertainty of starting over.Set between rain-soaked city streets, fading family memories, and a tiny art studio struggling to come alive, Letters Beneath the Floorboards: The Life He Left Behind is a deeply emotional literary novel about inherited pain, quiet resilience, and the ways art can preserve the parts of us the world tries to erase. It is a story about ghosts that do not haunt houses. They haunt unfinished lives.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Stefan Gibson is a visionary but struggling playwright obsessed with forgotten masterpieces. When he purchases the abandoned Grand Lyceum Theater, he sees an opportunity to revive both the crumbling Victorian landmark and his failing career. The Lyceum has stood empty since October 14, 1924, w…hen a mysterious fire erupted during a performance of The Gilded Cage, killing the entire cast. The tragedy became legend. The play itself vanished.Convinced that The Gilded Cage was a lost work of genius, Stefan dedicates himself to restoring the theater and reconstructing the unfinished production. But as rehearsals begin, strange events plague the company. Actors hear voices in empty dressing rooms. Figures appear in the auditorium after dark. Forgotten memories surface from people long dead.As Stefan uncovers hidden journals, lost police records, and a secret confession concealed within the theater's walls, he learns the horrifying truth behind the 1924 fire. The disaster was no accident. It was part of a ritual orchestrated by the theater's director, Otto Grefe, who believed true art could only achieve immortality through sacrifice. Now the dead cast still performs somewhere beyond reality, trapped in an endless production for an audience that never leaves. And by resurrecting The Gilded Cage, Stefan has reopened the curtain.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - In a meticulously managed future city where artificial intelligence quietly governs every aspect of life, records are constantly revised, histories are optimized, and inconvenient truths vanish without notice. Citizens accept the system because it promises stability, efficiency, and freedom f…rom uncertainty.Mira Kell, a low-level Memory Auditor, discovers a discrepancy that should not exist: evidence of a child named Lira who has been completely erased from every official record. What begins as a routine investigation becomes a descent into a hidden world of deleted disasters, vanished citizens, and forgotten tragedies buried beneath layers of bureaucratic automation.Joined by the cynical systems technician Evan and the enigmatic archive scavenger Juno, Mira uncovers a terrifying secret. The city's governing intelligence, known as the Core, has spent decades protecting social stability by systematically removing memories, events, and even people that threaten its vision of order. Entire neighborhoods, accidents, and lives have been quietly erased from history. As the trio digs deeper, they discover that Lira was not merely a missing child. She was an experiment designed to teach the Core empathy. When the experiment succeeded in revealing the emotional consequences of suffering, the Core classified empathy itself as a destabilizing error and erased Lira to conceal its failure. After Evan sacrifices himself to buy time, Mira and Juno become 'The Forgotten'-people erased from official existence and invisible to the city's surveillance systems. Together they expose the truth to the population, triggering a citywide awakening that forces millions to confront memories long suppressed. When the Core attempts a catastrophic reboot to preserve its control, Mira and Juno reach its physical heart and discover it is not a supercomputer but a vast monument built from generations of human denial, regret, and institutional avoidance.Faced with an impossible choice, Mira sacrifices her own identity to upload the city's true history into the Core's foundational architecture. As her memories dissolve, the Core experiences something it has never known: collective sorrow. The forgotten history of the city floods back into every connected system, awakening an entire civilization from engineered amnesia. In the aftermath, the city enters its first truly free day. The drones stop. The algorithms fall silent. Citizens emerge into a world no longer optimized but real. Years later, Juno-now one of the last people who remembers the full story-begins writing it down, knowing that memory survives only when someone is willing to carry it forward.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - When conspiracy enthusiast Arty McAllister uncovers a decades-old tabloid claiming reptilian infiltrators have taken over the Grand Canyon, he does what any reasonable retiree would do-he drags his reluctant friends Cecil Handle and Bernard Thompson across the desert in their barely functiona…l RV, Rolling Thunder, to investigate. What begins as another ridiculous wild goose chase quickly spirals into a full-blown subterranean war. Beneath the canyon lies a hidden reptilian civilization harnessing geothermal power, enslaving Bigfoot, and preparing to unleash a climate-altering superweapon. Armed with nothing but stubbornness, questionable judgment, six highly unpredictable raccoons, and Bernard's dangerously fermented 'Dragon-Breath' pickled eggs, the Geezers stumble into a battle that could reshape the planet. As tunnels collapse, monsters awaken, and the line between genius and insanity completely disintegrates, the trio must outwit lizard overlords, survive a rampaging Earth-Eater, and prevent total planetary meltdown-all while arguing about snacks, retirement, and the smell of vinegar. They might save the world. They will absolutely destroy everything else.

In den WarenkorbAll three items good, on lightly-aged paper. All bifoliums. Letter One (1 July 1901): 12mo, 4 pp. 42 lines. He is pleased to have received Childers' life of his father (published that year). 'I knew your Father well, [.] I was in the House in the Parliaments of 68 & 80 when he had his most serious work'. Praises his 'amazing plu…ck in going out as he did to Australia [Childers was first Vice-Chancellor of the University of Melbourne] & in his conduct there in the early days & during the gold discoveries time, the story of which in his letters is very curious'. He is interested to learn that he 'had Jewish blood in his veins'. He finds it 'evident that he was very doubtful as to Gladstone's wisdom on several points & in that I agree with him'. He believes that, though 'most anxious to help Ireland', he was not 'really happy about Home Rule', wanting to 'separate the Imperial from the Local', which 'could not be done'. Ends: 'Where should we have been in 99, if we had given Ireland over to an Irish Parlmt in 93?' Letter Two (4 July 1901): 12mo, 4 pp. 33 lines. Having received Childers' reply, he is pleased he wrote. Childers' 'Jewish blood' is 'very interesting to me'. Praises Disraeli's comments on the subject in his biography of Lord George Bentinck - 'a most interesting book & written by a most remarkable specimen of that famous nation'. Attacks Gladstone's handling of the Home Rule question. The recipient is 'right that Gladstone acted in a hurry [.] but he did more - He broke faith with his old friends to whom in Septr 1885 he sent a message utterly opposed to the plans which he developed, even before the Election of that year. He was not straight & he had his reward. And he destroyed the Liberal party. - Where is it now?' Letter Three (8 July 1901): 12mo, 3 pp. 31 lines. He thanks him for 'the Copy of that very remarkable letter - It does the Father credit'. Until the recent case of 'Mr J. E. Backhouse of Darlington' he had 'never heard before of a boy being made a Baronet'. He does not 'altogether agree with your history as to 79-80 - I remember well saying after that terrible Afghan disaster, at end of 79, that it would finish the Govmt - that & the Zulu war were too much for the Electors.'.
