Exterior shows spotting and light soiling, edges and corners are bumped and softened as is the spine. Internal binding is good though there is some pulling in spots. Pages are toned due to age a…nd some spotting and foxing is present. Front pastedown is stamped "Complements of Richard R. Hire" and there is a small pasted in label below stating the book was property of Lloyd Nissley. No other markings found in the book, no handwriting, no library markings etc. The rear pocket contains a very large foldout map which appears to be in very good condition other than some tanning. Also found within the pages is the actual advertisement flyer for this book from the Pennsylvania Geological Survey. The numbered pages and at 66 but this number does not include the numerous photos and illustrations throughout the book which are unnumbered.

This lot of 46 mimeographed bulletins was deaccessioned from the Harvard College Library (originally received from the Survey); also included are photocopies of the missing 13 mimeographed bulletins (specified above), in order to make this lot a complete run of bulletins 1-59 (September 24, 1919… - December 12, 1922). Laid in at top of the bulletins is a mimeographed 1 April 1922 letter from Pennsylvania state geologist George H. Ashley, addressed "Dear Sir" (presumably sent to university librarians, with this one being sent to a Harvard librarian), listing the bulletins that he was mailing to them. Many of the mimeographed bulletins have wear, short margin tears and/or chips and some soil; the bulletins range in length from 3 p. to 26 p.; most are about 11 p. each. Mailing this heavy lot outside the United States will cost much more than is specified in the shipping matrix. [otob: 43r].
