O geopolímero é um sistema de cimento alcalino activado que pode ser utilizado para substituir o cimento Portland na indústria da construção. Mistura de NaOH e Na2SiO3 utilizada como solução activadora alcalina. O GGBS é utilizado como material de base no estudo devido à sua capacidade de endurecimento em condições de cura ambiental. O procedimento de concepção da mistura adoptado para betão geopolímero é semelhante ao padrão indiano (IS 10262-2009).
