However, the ability of inoculated bacteria to survive, outcom…pete with the native microflora, and colonize in the rhizosphere remains to be the challenge for successful application especially in saline soil since high salinity could influence the survival, growth and activity of microorganisms. The salt-tolerant bacteria could thus be advantageous over others to thrive in a new saline environment in the sufficient numbers to deliver beneficial effects to plants. Although the performance of salt tolerant bacteria in promoting plant growth under various environmental stresses were reported immensely, little information is available on the effectiveness of salt-tolerant bacteria under high salinity. Therefore, in this study, attempts have been made to screen and select efficient salt-tolerant bacteria under salt-stressed conditions. Further, its effectiveness for growth promotion of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) var. Arka Rakshak under in vitro and saline conditions has also been evaluated.

Sin embargo, la capacidad de las bacte…rias inoculadas para sobrevivir, competir con la microflora nativa y colonizar en la rizosfera sigue siendo el reto para una aplicación exitosa, especialmente en suelos salinos, ya que la alta salinidad podría influir en la supervivencia, el crecimiento y la actividad de los microorganismos. Las bacterias tolerantes a la sal podrían, por tanto, ser ventajosas sobre otras para prosperar en un nuevo entorno salino en el número suficiente para proporcionar efectos beneficiosos a las plantas. Aunque el rendimiento de las bacterias tolerantes a la sal en la promoción del crecimiento de las plantas bajo diversos estreses ambientales se informó inmensamente, hay poca información disponible sobre la eficacia de las bacterias tolerantes a la sal bajo alta salinidad. Por lo tanto, en este estudio, se ha intentado cribado y selección de bacterias eficientes tolerantes a la sal en condiciones de estrés salino.
