Nach Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs war er einige Jahre als freiberuflicher Musiker tätig, von 1949 bis zu seiner Pensionierung 1961 dann wieder am Nürnberger Konservatorium. Mit seinem Werk darunter Chormusik, geistliche Vokalmusik, Kammermusik, Klavier- und Orgelmusik steht er stilistisch auf derselben Linie wie die andern, geht aber gleich jenen eigene Wege. Auch sein Schaffen ruht auf dem Fundament der durch Joseph Haas und Max Reger bezeichneten Tradition, die er jedoch bald zugunsten konsequenter Befolgung des linearen Prinzips und polytonaler Versuche verlassen hat" (MGG IV, 1528).
