The tissue plate to the frontis is foxed, otherwise all is generally very clean. Binding firm. Very good condition. An attractive and unusual edition of Lord Byron's work, introduced by the poet William Rossetti. This printing matches one in The British Library, which is catalogued as "Illustrated by Thomas Seccombe [or rather, by Ford Madox Brown]". (It is not clear why Ford Madox Brown would be using the name of another artist as a pseudonym.) This edition also matches the description in The British Library: "Without the additional titlepage and the frontispiece, the latter being replaced by a portrait. With different illustrations from the [1880] edition, that facing p. 410 signed: "M. W. Ridley.".
