Map. Engraving with hand coloring. Image measures 11 1/8" x 12 7/8" Beautifully hand-colored map of the continent of Africa. Regional boundaries are delineated and mountains are depicted pictorially. Regions, rivers, cities, and groups of inhabitants are labeled. A decorative title cartouche in the lower left corner features an illustrated crocodile and lion. In very good condition, with minor foxing especially at upper margin. Fold lines as issued. George Rollos (b. 1731) was an engraver, mapseller and geographer apprenticed to Thomas Kitchin. Many of his maps were published in The British Magazine and General Description of the World.
