Geoffrey Landon, free-lance music critic, is conscripted and, aware that his predecessor was murdered, goes to contact an Australian opera singer working on the Continent. But the singer has disappeared and, as the action moves from Germany to Austria, Landon is caught up in a chilling and tragic network of intrigue.
