Part of Emily's Canadianess lead her to a pro-Indian and therefore anti-church philosophical positon, Despite these themes of conflict in her life she succeeded in becoming Canada's PREMIER painter of West Coast Indian culture. These 386 pages - incl. Notes, Biblio, and Index, look at her career in the documentation of Gitxsan, Haida, Tlingit, Tmishian and Kwakiutl life styles. Totem poles were her particular passion.
