An overview of the work of noted film animator, Norman McLaren, whose many innovations in the field including developing the technique of drawing directly on film, thus eliminating the need of a camera, and using three-dimensional animation in the conversion of animated drawings. He won an Oscar for his cartoon, Neighbors, in which he moved live actors 24 times a second, resembling the robotic clay-mation technique.

First edition. Folio; 31 pp.; illustrated from photographs and drawings. Small stain to front cover; else a very good copy in original pictorial wrappers. The National Film Board of Canada's tribute to McLaren, the innovative animator and film-maker.

Includes a filmography, in the form of an alphabetical title index.
