Handsomely bound and illustrated edition of the novel of the ups and downs of clerical life by Oliver Goldsmith (c.1730-74). It was edited by Henry Austin Dobson (1840-1921), engineer, poet and essayist and illustrated by the Irish born artist, Hugh Thomson (1860-1920) whose pen and ink drawings appeared in some sixty five books.
