"Cuando en enero de 1966 un grupo de jovanes antropologos llego a la communidad de San Agustin-Huayopampa encontro una realidad que, en ese entonces, parecio ser para muchos una rara exepcion. Ya a principios del siglo San-Augustin-Huayop…ampa, communidad limena ubicada en la parte serrana del valle de Chancay, habia decidido sustituir sus cultivos tradicionales, reduciendo la importancia de la papa e incrementando las areas sembradas con maiz. Los pobladores se fueron translando de San Augustin de Pariac, su antigua residencia colonial situada a mas de 3,000 metros de altura s.n.m., a los maizales ubicados quebrada abajo, construyendo alli precarias chozas que cedieron poco a poco el paso a vivendas estables y a la Villa de San Miguel de Huayopampa. Al mismo tiempo, construrian escuelas e invertian ingentes recursos en la educacion de sus hijos, que comenzaron a migrar masivamente a Huarel y luego a Lima en busca de estudios secundarios y universitarios. Desde 1950 los huayopampinos introdujeron el cultivo de frutales que, desplanzando al maiz, incorporaron plenamente a la communidad a una economia de mercado." 449 pages, with Contenido, Presentacion, tables, charts, maps, Apendice, and Bibliografia.
