Buch Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. H M Bateman (illustrator). 1st Edition. A curious book indeed. Each artist of note from Cimbaue to Miro, gets a not very good one verse light hearted pen portrait from Gordon, some augmented by a Bateman drawing. Always worth seeing of course, but not adding a great deal here. There then follows a short selection of verses on 'British Moderns', from Wilson Steer to Graham Sutherland, without illustrations, and then a longer section of short, non comic biographies of all the artists featured in the book. It's all in VG internal order, with just a couple of minor spots to the block edge, but pages clean and bright. Former owner's details neatly to fep. Smart black boards with yellow titling to spine. VG unclipped d/j, in protective sleeve, spotted to rear and with small loss to rh bottom corner at front. 4to. 85pp.
