Mills) stem cutter was developed in the department and its performance was evaluated in the field. During testing of equipment the problem were observed in the transmission of power from PTO to cutter unit. Thus modification of power transmission system of the equipment was carried out in the department of Farm Power and Machinery, Dr PDKV, Akola. Among with the modification in power transmission system, the conveying system was also modified. The cut plant were bending in opposite direction of travel during the conveying and getting chocked between the conveying tray and cutting unit in view to avoid this a plant guiding arrangement was introduce on the equipment. The cutting efficiency of the modified implement was increased due to the change in position of cutter bar and efficiency of conveying was improved tremendously with the modification of conveying tray and introduction of plant guiding arrangement. The maximum cutting efficiency was found 81.25 % and 80.00 % at 3 km/h and 3.5 km/h speeds respectively. Considering the problem of forward bending of crop while cutting which tends to improper cutting action in the previous implement results for need to develop the plant holding mechanism for the stem cutter. The holding unit consists of pulleys, rollers, belts etc. The belt is allowed to rotate along the vertical axis of pulley and roller. The rubber groves were fitted on the belt for holding the plant firmly. The component of the holding unit was tested in the laboratory as well as in the field and was found working satisfactory. The desired sprocket teeth ratio was selected to match the speed of holding unit and travel speed of tractor. The cutting efficiency of the modified implement was increased due to the use of holding mechanism. The maximum cutting energy was found 78.57 % and 75.00 % at 3 and 3.5 km/h speeds respectively. The field efficiency was 68.88 % and 69.84 % at the two above respective speeds. The plant damage was found 13.33 % and 12.96 % at the same respective speeds. 100 pp. Englisch.…

La unidad de sujeción consiste en poleas, rodillos, correas, etc. La correa puede girar a lo largo del eje vertical de la polea y el rodillo. Las ranuras de goma se colocaron en la correa para sujetar la planta con firmeza. El componente de la unidad de sujeción se probó tanto en el laboratorio como en el campo y se comprobó que funcionaba satisfactoriamente. Se seleccionó la relación deseada de los dientes de la rueda dentada para adaptarla a la velocidad de la unidad de sujeción y a la velocidad de desplazamiento del tractor. La eficiencia de corte del implemento modificado se incrementó debido al uso del mecanismo de sujeción. La máxima energía de corte se encontró en el 78,57% y el 75,00% a velocidades de 3 y 3,5 km/h respectivamente.
