A letter about giving notice to a third party. Thomas Graham, 1st Baron Lynedoch 1748-1843 was a Scottish aristocrat, politician and British Army officer. A…fter his education at Oxford, he inherited a substantial estate in Scotland, married and settled down to a quiet career as a landowning gentleman. However, with the death of his wife, when he was aged 42, he immersed himself in a military (and later political) career, during the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. For mych of this period he was a very close and second in command to Wellington. Size of letter is 170mm x 115mm. Condition is good. Light folding creases. Light paper repair to bottom corner. Lightly soiled/age toned. Small gum marks to rear. . More images can be taken upon request. Ref17155. Signed by Author(s).

In January 1812 he assisted at the siege and capture of Ciudad Rodrigo. In 1814 he was in command of the British contingent in Holland.

The printer released a revised and expanded version of the second edition in 1812, adding 5 additional maps (original second edition published 1801). A fifth volume, detailing the wartime history in Holland, was originally published in 1801, with a second edition in 1803. Graham's lett…er reads: 'There is the list except two names wch. L[or]d Keith wishes to have inserted & the mem[orandu]m. Of wch. I have mislaid one is the Baillie of Kinkardine [sic] for the time being I think but it wd. be best to apply to him for the proper designations & if necessary afterwards to write to Mrs. Paton abt. them I think it wd. be worth while to have this list printed - & carefully examin'd & any errors corrected I will be at the expense & then no mistake can take place in the names or designations in the act of parl[iamen]t. Transcribing them from this printed list'. He ends by asking to be advised on the matter.
