Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. 1st Edition. A fine copy, in a near fine dust jacket, of the first US edition. The olive green cloth binding is clean and unworn, with strong white and blue lettering to the spine and front board. Everything is tight and square, with unbumped edges and corners. The contents are clean and bright with, other than a tiny bookseller's sticker to the front pastedown, no ownership inscriptions or other markings of any kind. The striking dust jacket is unclipped (no flap price), and is otherwise fully complete, showing only very minor edgewear and some rubbing to the spine ends. It has been neatly reinforced from behind with clear tape in places, and is now protected in a removable mylar cover. From the blurb: "This book is an analytical narrative of the various discoveries in Africa of one of the most primitive ancestors of the human family - the 'ape-man' or Australopithecus. The author is a world authority on human evolution and a central figure in the controversies these discoveries produced".
