The backstrip & rear wrap are lacking. The cover is bumped, chipped & lightly soiled. Pages A-D [ads] & 67 pages, including additional ads. Numerous sepia-toned & black-and-white illustrations & pictorial ads. 1 signature is detached with its front edges roughed & chipped. There are tears to the top edge & front edge of page 41 & to the top edges of pages 42-48. There is a piece out of the bottom corner of the last page. The top edges of the pages are rippled, probably from humidity. There is occasional soiling. Fair. "The Mentor" often highlighted a particular theme and this issue, published three months after Houdini's death, focused on magic and magicians. Among the contents are "Magic Old and New from Paracelsus to Houdini" by Clement King; and articles on Robert Houdin's "Historic Handkerchief Conjuring Feat", "Mesmer the Mesmerist", Count Cagliostro, and tribal magic in Guiana.

Contains the latest installment of Houdini's expose, "Unknown Facts Concerning Robert Houdin," beginning with the troupe of Indians at the Covent-Garden Theatre, February, 1868, as well as the latest installment of Houdini's "Handcuff Secrets Exposed.".

Soft cover. Zustand: Near Fine. No Jacket. The March, April and May, 1908 numbers of the 30-page octavo softcover magazine, on a handsome coated stock, slightly browned to edges. The March and April issues contain Houdini's two-part reminiscence of Johann N. Hofzinser, 1806-1875, "genius unheralded and unsung." The May number contains a three-page "Demand for Fair Play for Harry Houdini" from Dr. A.M. Wilson, editor of The Sphinx of Kansas City, in whose pages Mr. Houdini had declined to advertise. The May number also includes the announcement that Houdini's new book, "the Unmasking of Robert Houdin," has now been reduced in price from $2 to $1, with the author to "pocket the loss.".

Covers attached to text block upside down and backwards. Some cracking to hinges at front and rear. Nicely illustrated with small black-and-white sketches throughout. Includes a small amount of advertisements within text block. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear.
