Numerous sepia-toned & black-and-white illustrations & pictorial ads. 1 signature is detached with its front edges roughed & chipped. There are tears to the top edge & front edge of page 41 & to the top edges of pages 42-48. There is a piece out of the bottom corner of the last page. The top edges of the pages are rippled, probably from humidity. There is occasional soiling. Fair. "The Mentor" often highlighted a particular theme and this issue, published three months after Houdini's death, focused on magic and magicians. Among the contents are "Magic Old and New from Paracelsus to Houdini" by Clement King; and articles on Robert Houdin's "Historic Handkerchief Conjuring Feat", "Mesmer the Mesmerist", Count Cagliostro, and tribal magic in Guiana.

Rare complete collection of all 80 issues of The Magic World, the early 20th century periodical 'Devoted to the Interests of Magicians, Ventriloquists, Illusionists, and Others of the Allied Arts.' Octavo, 80 issues, illustrated. The issues range from April 1917 to June 1924, several feature stories about Harry Houdini with his magic trick tutorials. In near fine condition. Housed in three stiff paper wrappers. The Magic World was a Magic Periodical by the "Magic World Publishing Company", edited by J. E. Pierce (Dr.) that ran from April 1917 until Vol 7 No. 10 (March, 1924). Starting with Volume five, number eight (November, 1921) it became the "Official organ of the Philadelphia Assembly, Society of American Magicians." Starting with Volume six, issue number seven, Walter B. Gibson became associate editor and with Volume six, number nine (December, 1922) it became the "Official organ in the U. S. A. of the Magicians' Club, London, England." Ray J. Fink acquired magazine from Dr. Pierce. His first issue is Vol. 7 No. 10 (February/March 1924). In his next, and last issue was Volume eight, No. one (June, 1924) which was combined with Felsman's Magical Review to become the "Combined Magic World and Magical Review".
