First edition (1st issue w/ illustrated softcovers), of this informative account by a descendant of the notorious "Captain Anderson (Devil Anse) Hatfield, and the events surrounding, and continuing the notoriously bloody feud in the Southern Appalachians covering Kentucky and West Virginia, along the Tug Fork of the Big Sandy River. Beginning with the murder in 1865 of Asa Harmon McCoy, the families would exchange kidnappings, killings, lynchings, and court cases over the ensuing decades, eventually ending with the trial and conviction of eight of the Hatfield clan and their supporters.
