A novel set in the Adirondack country just after the American Revolution. Three children are left on their own after their mother is killed, their house burned down, and their father disappeared into the forest. The two brothers shoulder the responsibility and the hard work, alongside their tomboy little sister called Young'un. This is a wartime edition, with the compliance statement on the copyright page.
