Softcover. Zustand: New. Color-illus. wraps with white lettering. French flaps. 103 full of color and bw illus. Text in German. Catalogue from the exhibition of November 2014 to March 2015 at the Neue Pinkothek, Munich. The exhibition focuses on the recently restored painting "lock is in the valley of Optevoz", which was acquired as a work of Gustave Courbet more than a hundred years ago, and the documentation of his surprising and unusual history. The design and composition but are inextricably linked with the work of Charles-François Daubigny. The conviction of having dealing here with an early landscape Gustave Courbet was already shaken in the 1990s, as in a study of the painting next to the clearly legible signature Courbet a second, visible only in Infrarotreflektogramm signature Daubigny appeared. Daubigny has intensively dealt with the design of the lock in several works, while we do not know of Courbet, whether he has ever visited this area. Recent studies proved then that the heavy, somewhat gloomy character of the landscape mainly resulting from an over-painting that did not belong to the original stock of the image, but was subsequently applied. However, this top layer of overpainting also belonged to the signature Courbet. The restoration was begun in 2011. - from the Neue Pinakothek web site.…

NO SHIPPING within the EU except to France and to Austria * * * BTC on-chain & lightning accepted * * *.…

About the book >.>.> George Stubbs: 1724 - 1806 presents an in-depth exploration of the life and work of George Stubbs, renowned for his realistic paintings of horses and exotic animals. This volume highlights Stubbs?s exceptional ability to merge empirical research with artistic aesthetics, setting his work apart in the genre of sporting art. His paintings not only capture the beauty and grace of these subjects but also reflect a distinctly British lifestyle, particularly the 18th-century noble class?s aspiration to live harmoniously with nature in the countryside, away from urban life.Stubbs?s artwork embodies the era's ideals of speed, elegance, confidence, and modernity, showcasing the self-assuredness of British society during a time of significant cultural development. His portraits of noble racehorses and rare exotic animals serve as enduring testaments to the artist's mastery and the evolving ideals of art that celebrated fidelity to nature. The works included in this volume illustrate how Stubbs's unique perspective on nature and his subjects resonated deeply with the interests of the British aristocracy, providing insights into the social fabric of his time. With a comprehensive overview of Stubbs's oeuvre, this book not only chronologically traces his artistic journey but also elucidates the thematic and cultural significance of his paintings. It stands as an essential resource for understanding Stubbs's role in the history of European art, particularly in the realm of animal painting. This examination illuminates how his contributions helped shape the artistic landscape of his era and beyond, underscoring his legacy as a king among painters of animals.…
