Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. True first British printing. Firs thus. No jacket. Arranged and with a preface by Hugh J. Schonfield. Illustrated by C. H. Bennett and W. McConnell. The frontispiece of the author has been neatly removed. Red boards with black lettering to spine and gold design to front are very good with a little pushing/bumping to corners, fading to spine, the odd small mark, odd small bump/rub to edges and a little wear (pushing/rubbing/slight fraying to the cloth) to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Neat gift inscription and date in pen to front end-paper. Paper inside back board is a little wrinkled (a production fault). Pages bit tanned. Odd small mark/spot of foxing to page edges, tops and bottoms. Very occasional small mark/spot of foxing to pages. No other faults. A nice copy. All books described honestly and accurately. Jacket has faults - namely edge/shelf wear, numerous large tears, patchy loss, creasing/rubbing to edges, patchy browning (including to spine), numerous marks, minor foxing, pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine, pushing/bumping to corners, a few small holes, patchy browning/odd marks/minor foxing to reverse, browning/creasing/rubbing/minor foxing to front/back inner flaps and is in only fair condition. Boards are very good with a little pushing/bumping to corners, the odd small mark, odd minor bump/rub to edges and a little wear (pushing/rubbing/fading) to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Neat gift inscription and date in pencil to front end-paper. Pages little tanned. Odd small mark/spot of foxing to page edges, tops and bottoms.
