Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - How can a mind reason clearly and still be lost in delusion A glance becomes a warning. A coincidence becomes evidence. A private conviction grows until it changes the meaning of everything. The White Cat Series: Atlas of Psychology and Psychiatry opens with Madness, Possession and Delusion: two historical works by three French physicians, brought together in English translation by Stanislav Pavlovski.L.-F. Calmeil - On Madness, Volume One (1845)Enter a world of witchcraft accusations, supposed demonic possession, religious visions and lycanthropy. Through historical narratives and medical discussion, Calmeil examines experiences he understood as manifestations of mental illness, and the punishments imposed when those experiences were interpreted as heresy or dealings with the devil. His account brings the monastery, the courtroom and the asylum into a troubling conversation about belief, suffering and judgement.P. Sérieux and J. Capgras - Reasoning Madnesses: The Delusion of Interpretation (1909)Turn from historical trials to detailed clinical observations of people whose fluent speech, memory and reasoning coexist with persistent delusional convictions. Ordinary gestures acquire hidden meanings. Newspapers seem to carry personal messages. Jealousy, persecution and grandeur become organising principles of daily life. The authors investigate how these systems develop, how they are defended, and why apparent lucidity can make them difficult to recognise.Read together, these works offer two distinct approaches to a shared problem: how human beings explain experiences that others do not share. They preserve the arguments, case histories and terminology of their periods, allowing the reader to encounter historical psychiatry through its own texts rather than through a modern retelling. For readers drawn to the history of mental illness, abnormal psychology, witch trials and the medical interpretation of the supernatural, this collection opens a demanding and absorbing field of study. Two works. Three authors. One unsettling question: where does certainty end and delusion begin Volume I of The White Cat Series. English translation and collected edition by Stanislav Pavlovski.Edition note: Only Volume One of Calmeil's On Madness is included. The gap corresponding to original pages 318-319 is explicitly marked. These historical texts are presented for study, not as current diagnostic or treatment guidance. 'Atlas' is the modern series designation; this is a text-based historical collection, not an illustrated medical atlas.…

Couverture souple. Zustand: Très bon. Edition originale. 1 vol. in-8 (22.5 x 14 cm), 528 pp., broché, dos discrètement bruni, exemplaire non coupé en très bon état. Edition originale rare. " ; Stanghellini G et al. : The Oxford handbook of phenomenological psychopathology, pp. 776-8: "the paranoiac has also been convincingly defined by Sérieux and Capgras (1902) as 'delusion in action'. ; Cutting j & Shepherd M : Misinterpretative delusional states, In: The clinical rootsof the schizophrenia concept, pp. 169-181.…
