This is mainly due to the practices of publishers reissuing and mixing material at later dates rather than creating brand new editions. Thankfully R.J Goulden in his Kent T…own Guides of 1995, has assisted us in the unravelling of most of the issue points, and we can identify publication dates with more certainty. This copy resembles Goulden '24' and is dated 1814, but is actually an [1815 ] publication due to the issue points highlighted here - these include 'Sold also by Rivington's London, the title page plate has been re engraved to include 1814 to base.' The Author's address page is dated January 1815. This copy here collates as follows: p. folding engraved frontis { complete no tears, spotting }, title and dedication pages, xx, 2 full page engraved plates, one folding Mileage caculater, 332. The binding is a contemporary quarter leather recasing, holding firm, but rubbed at extremitiesis. Text block is tight, clean and secure. . [ DTM ].

Across the map numerous towns and villages, farms and estates are highlighted including the Calverley House Estate, which was designed by famous Regency architect Decimus Burton (1880-1881). The map also illustrates interesting local topographical features such as River Hill and Milkhouse Toll.Also included is the original slip case and original paper label. Overall size once opened 44cm x 45cm. Condition is generally fine, laid to linen. Some occasional light tone spots.
