Signed. Original pale green cloth boards with gilt titles to spine and front board. Cream paper wrapper, with titles and a woodcut of snow drops to the front cover. Warm gift inscription from the author to the Bridgettine community of Syon Abbey. 48 pages. The cream wrapper has a little marking / foxing to it but is otherwise sound. A touch of handling to the top edge only. The cloth is neat and tidy. Internally the book is clean, with no significant marks.

Original cream covered paper covers over cream boards. Titles to both boards and wrapper. There is a frontis photograph of Gilbey at work, and a facsimile of a letter from the Apostolic delegate with a message from the Pope accepting the dedication of the book to him. This book comprised the collected poems from Gilbey's six earlier volumes, and an additional 40 poems included here. The wrapper has a couple of small closed tears to it, and some foxing / marking, including faint water damage. There is also light water marking to the front board. Internally the book is clean and tidy throughout, with just a touch of foxing to the pages. 228pp.

First edition. Original green cloth with gilt titles to the front board. Cream dust wrapper - plain with titles in black to the front cover and spine. Gift inscription from the author to the Sisters of Syon Abbey (South Brent). Frontis photograph (black and white) of the author at work. The wrapper is in good condition. No chips. A tiny closed nick to the head of the spine only and slight handling. The cream remains mainly clean and tidy with just a little darkening and marking to the wrapper. The cloth is clean and tidy with fractional sunning to the base of the spine. Intermittent light foxing, otherwise clean. No marks other than the author's inscription. There are the signs of some damp staining to the inside boards, and likewise the last few pages are slightly crinkled, but not bad overall. 64 pages. Captain Jack (John Newman) Gilbey b.1888 was the older brother of Alfred Newman Gilbey, Roman Catholic priest and longtime Catholic chaplain of Cambridge University. He was the author of several collections of devotional poetry.

Original red / orange cloth with titles in gilt to the front board, with cream paper wrapper. Titles to the front cover and spine of the wrapper. The poet has written and additional unrecorded 8 line poem to the front end paper of the book and signed it here. The wrapper is marked and damp stained to the rear panel. The front cover is in good shape with just a little marking. 1 inch closed tear to the top edge has been neatly repaired. There is a small chip to the middle of the wrapper spine. The spine of the book has faded, and there is a little damp staining to the inside boards. The rest of the book is clean and tidy, with a touch of foxing / darkening only. Some intermittent annotations in pencil (probably the date poems were read). 48pp.
