Zustand: Very Good. First Edition. About Very Good. Bound in full brown suede leather with gold title on front. Cover is in quite decent shape with just a tiny bit of loss to the upper front corner and a one-eighth inch tear at the head of the spine. There is a little chipping to the edges of the front pastedown. Contents are clean and free of any tears or chips. This book is attractively inscribed, "To Fannie from George, Xmas 1915". Provenance: from the historic estate of Houstonian, Ann Tuck Williams. Ms Williams' paternal great grandfather was George D. Neal, who served as Lieutenant Governor of Texas from 1903-1907. He was married to Fannie nee Brooks. Though not documented, it seems reliable conjecture that the inscription was from Lt. Gov. Neal to his wife. This volume presents photographs and short biographies of all of Texas' First Ladies from 1846 to 1915. 155 pp. A very scarce piece of Texana.

This copy provided with the "Compliments of The American National Bank." as it is printed on the front cover. The author presents the history of Austin chronicling important events and early settlers. While a history of Austin, it also functions as a history of the American National Bank and ends with portraits of its officers and directors. Enhanced by photographs of the major buildings and points of interest. A scarce and important publication promoting Austin. Small nicks and chips to the cover fore-edges, light wear to head of spine, else a very good copy of a scarce item.
