Les photographies offrent une précieuse documentation non seulement pour l'étude des races animales mais aussi pour la compréhension du paysage végétal et de l'activité économique. Une des parties les plus originales et les plus approfondies du livre de Mr Meniaud est celle qui à trait à la faune sauvage (TI. p. 181- 244) et à l'élevage ( T. II, p 1-164). Il y a là d'excellents renseignements sur cet exemple typique de Raubwirtschaft que constitue la chasse à outrance de l'éléphant, de l'autruche, de l'aigrette, du marabout.
