XX [From the dust jacket flap] "This collection includes texts, criticism, and bibliographical studies of a number of the unpublished writings of William Faulkner. To students of Faulkner's mind and art, the writing which he did not publish - juvenilia, experiments, unfinished projects, drafts or typescripts of works finally published in other forms — can be of great significance in understanding what he did publish. A Faulkner Miscellany makes available in print a considerable body of such materials from the Faulkner papers, together with illustrations, bibliographical listings, and studies of a number of his manuscripts and typescripts. A Faulkner Miscellany is the first volume in the Faulkner Sub-series of The Mississippi Quarterly Series in Southern Literature." XX "JAMES B. MERIWETHER, McClintock Professor of Southern Letters at the University of South Carolina, received his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1958. Among his published works are The Literary Career of William Faulkner: A Bibliographical Study; Essays, Speeches, and Public Letters of William Faulkner; Lion in the Garden: Interviews with Faulkner, 1926-1962 (edited with Michael Millgate); James Gould Cozzens: A Checklist; and numerous essays. He has held an American Council of Learned Societies Fellowship (1960-1961) and a Guggenheim Fellowship (1963-1964) and was Fullbright-Hays Professor of American Literature at the University of Paris (1970-1971).". …
