Zustand: as new. Heidelberg : Kehrer, 2014. Hardcover. 263 pp. illustrations (some color), portraits ; 25 cm. Texts by : François Cheval, Joachim Naudts & Jeffrey Silverthorne. English, French & Dutch text. - Published on the occasion of the exhibition "Jeffrey Silverthorne - the precision of silence" held at Musée Nicéphore Niépce, Chalon-sur-Saône, October 18, 2014 - January 18, 2015; FotoMuseum, Antwerp, February 20 - June 7, 2015. This book is published on the occasion of the first retrospective of the American artist: Jeffrey Silverthorne worked on his extensive oeuvre for 45 years. With an education in fine arts and based on the American photographic tradition of Harry Callahan and Edward Weston, Silverthorne developed a photographic oeuvre that moves between personal experiences, public presentation areas and staged scenes. The disguised body is omnipresent. Masks hide and reveal a fascination with roleplay. In Silverthorne's work, as with all meaningful social fringe, the transsexual becomes the ultimate symbol of blurred boundaries. Yet this body, open to all pleasures, is also marked by wounds and scars. Jeffrey Silverthorne's work is a contemporary answer to the age-old desires of vanity. The catalog not only provides an overview of the artist's various visual languages, but also shows a wide range of previously unseen series. Condition : as new copy. ISBN 9783868285338.
