Fascinated with etchings and drawings, he took his life savings and founded Life Magazine a magazine of art, humor and literature which would promote illustrative drawings. Mitchell served as both publisher and editor of that magazine from its founding in 1883 through the rest of his life. Charles Henry Jones (1848 1913), American journalist and editor, was born in Georgia and joined the Confederate Army during the Civil War at the age of 15. In 1866 he moved to New York, where he edited Eclectic Magazine and Appleton's Journal for 15 years. Jones moved to Jacksonville, Florida, in 1881 and established the Florida Daily Times, which merge with its rival Florida Union to become the Florida Times-Union.
