Vintage Book The series, "Penguin New Writing" was a fine example of the literary periodical which ran from 1936 to 1950. It was edited by John Lehman, who exsablished a stout anti-Fascist tone in the series' early years. Many authors of notable repute have appeared in its pages, including George Orwell, W. S.
