Interior of decent clean condition mostly for the age, no usage marks but a few age specks to edge of title page and to edge of last page- but this is very light and no text obscured, light age tone to e/papers, contains 15 coloured illustrations by Henry Aken, page block has a rough edge and browned, cloth boards show standard usage as shown in photos but all intact and firm.

Jorrocks was Surtees' timeless creation, his vulgarity and cheer still make the reader chuckle today. The red cloth cover is much bashed about. There is wear to all edges, corners and seams. The covers are marked, stained, scuffed. The covers and the spine are stoic. Inside, the contents are foxed throughout. Here and there the binding is cracked, but the pages are secure and sure. A short, neat, gifting inscription on the half title page, dated 1925 - the year of publication. Features illustrations by G. Denholm Armour, is a limited edition collection of essays and excerpts from Surtees's novels, filtered through the persona of the boisterous fox-hunting enthusiast, Mr. Jorrocks.

Some plates detached, but all clean except slight mark on half-tone. Slight foxing to prelims and occasionally elsewhere, paper toned. Dark marks suggestive of earlier damp on front endpapers. Bookplate of C.H. Waterland Mander on front pastedown. Top edge gilt, other edges uncut. Bound in publisher's red buckram board, somewhat blotchy, and worn at corners, with faded gilt lettering to upper board and spine.

Colour is faded and patchy on the covers, and there are scuffs and stains, and there are ink marks on the back cover. The spine is badly faded.There is an inscription on the flyleaf dated 1932, and the cover is starting to detach from the pageblock. While the flyleaves are somewhat discoloured, the roughcut pages of the book are generally very clean and unmarked. .
