Erstausgabe
Softcover. Zustand: Near Fine. First Italian edition of *The Cantos of Ezra Pound, Some Testimonies*. Narrow octavo. 15pp., printed on very thin paper. Text in Italian. Stapled self-wrappers. A bit of creasing at the spine base, front cover with a small area of very slight discoloration and two tiny foredge nicks, a near fine of a delicate pamphlet. Prints remarks on Pound's Cantos by James Joyce, T. S. Eliot, Ford Madox Ford, William Carlos Williams, Ernest Hemingway, Archibald MacLeish, and Allen Tate. First published in English nearly 30 years prior; Pound had been in Italy for about three years when this pamphlet was published, almost certainly to advertise the Italian-language publication of his first 30 cantos, translated by his daughter Mary de Rachewiltz and published by Lerici & Scheiwiller the same year. Reportedly Lerici & Scheiwiller were the first to publish Pound, Langston Hughes, Antonio Machado, Norman Mailer, W.H. Auden, Henry Roth, and Isaac Bashevis Singer in Italian. Very uncommon.
