Paperback. Zustand: new. Paperback. Feeling isolated, depressed, or directionless in life? Here's a radical idea: volunteer! The most healing thing a lonely, lost, or just plain bored person can do is place the concerns of another human being above their own. It's almost selfish in its effectiveness. Be selfish by being selfless. That's one of the themes of MORE Than me: Stepping Out of Yourself and into Humanity. The authors of this book discovered (partly intentionally but mostly by accident) the transformative power of volunteerism. Once they experienced the benefits of stepping out of self and into humanity, they began to look around and see that many others were doing the same. One person at a time, they were coaxing one another toward an all-encompassing compassion. The authors started to collect stories like precious stones. Each one affirmed their growing belief in the sheer power of "we" rather than "me." Lives were completely transformed simply by helping someone else who was in need. The stories they collected are retold in these pages. The undeniable truth behind them is that the uncomplicated act of helping someone else helps the giver in very significant ways. It becomes a makeover from the inside out. Reaching a hand out to someone in need, whether through organized volunteer organizations or simple good deeds, feels great. It immediately increases confidence-and it might also decrease worry lines. MORE Than me highlights true stories from all over the country and the world that reveal ordinary people-and several celebrities-reaching out to help others and in turn experiencing beautiful and unexpected changes of their own. It will inspire readers to raise their hands and volunteer for a unique and lasting transformation that starts with an outstretched hand. This item is printed on demand.
