Originally printed by The Penn Publishing Co. of Philadelphia in 1916, this is the later, though first, Canadian printing. Rare in commerce in such exceptional state. Charles Evans Kilbourne Jr., was the first American to earn the United States' three highest military decorations. Following World War I, he served as the Superintendent of the famed Virginia Military Institute, succeeding General John A. Lejeune, and had a post-military career as a distinguished writer.
