Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Wisdom for Living in a Wacky World is a unique commentary. Unlike the cynical or evangelistic interpretations of Ecclesiastes, the Preacher as a believer faces the realities of a world out of whack due to Adam's fall. He explores the value of wisdom and work and concludes that they are valuable but limited because of injustice, perplexity, frustration, death, and the presence of the all-wise, sovereign God. The frustrations of earthly work and wisdom are shared by all humanity, but the believer's labor in the Lord producing heavenly fruit is not in vain (1 Cor 15:58). The temporary divine blessings that provide earthly joy are given to righteous and wicked alike. The thirty-eight uses of 'vanity' (hebel) color the text with a rich range of meanings; the twenty-eight uses of 'under the sun' remind believers that all mankind is under God's wrath and curse, calling for trust in God as the only stable reality in human life. The Preacher looks forward to the good news of Jesus Christ in light of coming judgment. Ecclesiastes is an encouragement and guide, helping believers face the frustrations, perplexities, and injustices of a fallen world by fearing and trusting God.…
