Hardcover. Zustand: As New. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: None, As Issued. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 2 pages. Published in 2015. Debut Recording of the composer's landmark work. One of John Luther Adams' finest achievements. The first and only edition. Produced in a small and limited print run as a Slipcased Compact Disc-Cum-DVD. There is no ISBN. The CD/DVD is now scarce. Presents John Luther Adams' "Ilimaq". A definitive performance by Glenn Kotche. The distillation of Adams' definition of percussion: "The tone within the noise". "A true electro-acoustic recording that channels the energy, passion, and precision of Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche, 'Ilimaq', which translates from the native Inupiaq language as 'spirit journeys', maps a phantasmagorical progression through liquid cascades of percussion, otherworldly ambient soundscapes, harmonic dissonance, melodic convergence, and almost everything that's musically and sonically possible in between" (Publisher's blurb). "48 minutes of an almost violent but passionate performance. The one-man percussion was sonically heightened by the digital delays that blasted through the speakers. Though we were underground, 'Ilimaq' seemed to seep into the New York City streets" (Baeble Music). "From the first note, it requires total concentration and all of my physical stamina. I get into an almost trance-like state when performing it, not too unlike the shamanistic 'spirit journey' which inspired the piece" (Glenn Kotche). An absolute "must-have" title for John Luther Adams and Glenn Kotche collectors. This copy of the Slipcased Compact Disc/DVD is very prominently and beautifully signed in black pen-marker in front by John Luther Adams. It is signed directly on the cover itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is a contemporary classic. As far as we know, this is the only such signed copy of the CD/DVD available online, is enclosed in its own protective plastic sleeve, and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: Because of its very limited number, its collectible value will not only keep but increase over time. To say nothing of the fact that John Luther Adams lives in Alaska. As far as we know, this is the very first time he has ever signed a CD. A rare signed copy thus. Winner of the Grammy Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2014 for "Become Ocean". One of the greatest composers of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER JOHN LUTHER ADAMS TITLES IN OUR CATALOG) ISBN B015OPMCA6. Signed by Author.…
